And it takes a pretty sophisticated level of understanding American civics, which we've lacked in recent decades in America, to really have a handle on what this is.
And so in that context, I would say when I talk to normal people in Texas, which is where I'm from, it's really has not broken through.
But it has lit a fire in the Texas Democratic political class, which was basically more about they took a beating and last fall and thought things were all hopeless.
And so I think there is an enthusiasm among leaders that was not there.
And so
I would be surprised if this becomes a nationalized issue that the layman cares about.
If they did, that's probably a good thing for America because it shows how the people care about the small things in the government.
But it is I think it is more about watching how the political leaders handle this on both parties.
Um.
Texas specifically, what I can say is, and both sides will say this, if it's a best case scenario for Republicans, they'll win five seats.
If there is a worst case, it's they pick up one seat.
That's somewhat debatable.
But what I would say is that
The current maps in Texas are drawn really cleanly where there are very few competitive congressional races.
When Democrats have an opportunity to run candidates in competitive races, even if they're on defense, that helps party building.
And so there could be a Senate race that comes online next year where suddenly the Democratic nominee has several people in very important population centers and on those television airwaves.
this could actually end up being good for democrats at least a public sentiment around them that's kind of what i'm talking about i don't disagree with that possibility um i would say you know we've seen so much criticism of senate minority leader chuck schumer for not fighting hard enough but the tools there there really isn't a lot democrats in washington can do pushback that's why they're out of power and this is something tangible and
I can say that the fleeing of the state has never worked well for Texas Democrats.
They always come back and defeat.
But I do think there was an awareness that there are Democrats in Texas and outside of Texas who just desperately need to see party leaders push back.
