This is a president right now who has tried to take extraordinary power.

He he thinks of himself as both the executive branch of government and also the legislative branch.

And part of that is because Republicans have had a control of the legislative branch and they've willingly given it over to him.

And so we need to take that power back.

And the power to levy tariffs is a power that sits with Congress.

And so I think retaking that power is number one.

I'll also say this: I'm actually really quite skeptical of full free trade.

I just understand that tariffs are like chemotherapy.

You know, if you take the idea that NAFTA and TPP were cancers on the American economy, they hemorrhaged key great jobs that Michigan.

had been able to rely on for years.

You don't just give the patient all the chemo all at the same time because you have a vanity war against the tumor.

That's what Donald Trump is doing.

Instead, what you do is you're very, very thoughtful and directed about how you uh you use that that tool.

So I think there's a smart use of tariffs and it's to protect uh fast growing, high manufacturing capacity jobs.

Like I threw down the gauntlet and said, I'd like to see Detroit.
