Yeah, I don't know how to answer that completely because we didn't have
the visibility that we needed to really measure missed opportunities.
We do know that the application itself was outdated, which worked against us trying to build a technology-focused and innovative brand.
Reporting, again, was lacking.
We spent time on manually processing add-ons like debt protection.
But the biggest challenge was probably that we had
fragmented member and loan applications at one point we were accepting loan applications from non-members reviewing the application if everything looked okay we would go back to the applicant and say okay now it's time to apply for your membership which is comical to think about in hindsight right when you think about ben mentioned the fintech experience that's available from from so many other providers today
In another iteration, we would require membership before allowing a loan application, so we would have the loan application reserved behind home banking, and we would require a member to establish, our par value is $1, so establish a $1 prime share account before they could apply for a loan, not knowing if they would be approved for that loan or not.
So what we ended up with in that scenario were a bunch of single service memberships associated with applicants who did not end up receiving a loan and were not interested in going through the process of closing out a $1 par value account.
I think some of those challenges were probably addressable on the legacy platform, but we tried and we were unsuccessful.
Not to use a cliche, but we were really a small fish in a big pond or even an ocean
on the legacy platform, which is far from our experience with Mantle so far, which has been great.
so i had worked with mantel for account origination at an institution prior to joining the credit union and and we had a lot of success on that platform i was actually with an institution that ended up being one of the larger paycheck protection program issuers and at the start of ppp we needed to raise liquidity so we spun up the sub brand using mantel's account origination platform
And we were able to drive $250 million in deposits over a two-week period, which is larger than the asset size of the credit union that I'm at now.
So a lot of success there.
And when we heard Mantle was developing an LOS, I was excited from that perspective because I had that positive past experience with them.
We recognized that it was...
It would be a little bit of a leap of faith, a little bit of a risk.
It took some convincing among the rest of our senior management team and our board.
But because Mantle approached this with this development partner program, we had confidence that this would be built strategically and we'd be able to provide our input along the way.
