And then I asked them.

Like, what was the key difference between like what allowed you to be brave?

Right.

And there's two, there's a few things that come up all the time that fit my model.

So the first is people say that they can be brave when they have moral clarity.

That's the visionary, right?

I I know exactly why I'm doing something.

Um, they also say that they can be brave when they're not new to an experience, right?

That that they've already gone through this experience.

Experience before.

And so it's that sense of um expertise allows them to be brave.

That's like again the exemplar.

And then the final one, and this might be the most important one, is you know, do you have social support?

Do you have support behind you?

Um, and I think that is something that really makes a difference.

I was waiting with my son um at a bus stop in New York City, um, in not the best part of New York City.

He played soccer.

far away and we had to take a bus, one bus to another place and then wait for another bus and that transition point was in a a sketchy part of town.

And this guy comes up to us who is very clearly can't tell if he's on drugs, but something's going on to him and he starts talking to us.

And so you know I was thinking about what to do in that situation.
