We're at this weird point right now where it doesn't even really matter what the truth is.
What matters to many of Donald Trump supporters is can he give them a reason or a explanation for why something went wrong that isn't Trump or isn't them?
Even if they don't believe it, as long as they have a narrative they can glom onto and use.
Well, that's effective.
And that's what you see a lot, which is I've got to tell you, growing up as a Republican, one of the things we always learned is take responsibility for your own actions.
Right.
Be strong.
Be willing to to stand and take the fire.
And it's been quite the opposite with this new Republican Party.
Well, look, we've become so tribal that to be a member of the tribe or the cult, as I call it, you have to do what the cult leader says.
And so I think if you put the vast majority of Republicans, for instance, on the non-existent, but it's in the movies, you know, the CIA truth serum where they inject you with it and you have to tell the truth.
I think the vast majority of Republicans would say, yeah, I mean, it was probably a really bad job.
But they won't say that publicly because their leader tells them,
It's not their fault.
It's not a bad job.
Donald Trump is the best builder ever.
People don't necessarily believe it, but that doesn't matter.
It's what matters to people is are you following through with the narrative that your tribe told you to follow through on?
And if so, that's all right.
You'll win that way.
