Well, he certainly is allowed to.
And, you know, I don't like the gold.
I think it looks like Saddam Hussein's palace.
But that is a stylistic choice that a president gets to make.
I think the difference is with like the East Wing.
And you don't get to, although he did, you don't really get to destroy the people's house without going through the process of getting Congress and various committees to approve it.
Look, in the United States – and I know it's similar in Australia actually – the White House is not seen as this palace for the king that the king owns to live in.
The White House is actually considered the people's house.
It's why it has such a basic name.
It is Donald Trump basically gets to live there while he exercises the power of president.
He doesn't own it.
And I think the arrogance of destroying it, building his grand ballroom is what's bothered people so much about this.
I mean, the ballroom is probably going to end up being beautiful, but.
Again, our government is not about these big, grandiose things.
It's government for, of, and by the people.
And I think that's why it struck a nerve with so many, including myself, is this idea that he is above accountability for the people's house.
We own that.
I mean, I own, you know, one three hundred and sixty millionth of that, like every other American owns a share of it.
And the president made a decision without going through the proper channels.
And I think that's why that sticks so much.
