It's designed to show this guy as a talented writer, as a talented director, as a talented actor.
He is all of those things, but it's in the sacrifice of the real kind of complexity that this movie might be about.

I think that the movie is very pleasing and I think people are being pleased.

I found it to be pretty shallow and kind of self-flattering and also had a weird view of what it means to kind of like take responsibility in life as if the two lifestyles are incompatible, which I think if you followed that logic a little too far, is kind of a weirdly reactionary, conservative understanding.
