But I mean, you know, self-induced hallucination, which I think is a great phrase for a lot of Jane's films in some ways, you know, like sometimes you have a phrase from a filmmaker's career, a title or a line of dialogue, and you're like, We'll be using that one.
You know, I think that that one works.
Like that movie wasn't ahead of the curve on Slender Man.
It was ref it was analyzing it after the fact, the phenomenon and the creepypasta.
But that movie really is I forget what year it is.
It's like two thousand and
whatever, like pre-2020, because World's Fair is 2021.
But really just analyzing that idea of viral horror, creepy pastor horror, creepy pastor horror, participatory horror.
I mean, backrooms represents the mainstream cresting.

But Jane was kind of really in on the ground floor with self-induced hallucination and then with World's Fair, which I liked at the time because it had an element of surprise and because it was made so cheaply and ingeniously and with no recognizable
Actors, it had that element, not of found footage horror, but the same thing that great found footage horror has, which is just this feels anonymous.
This feels found.
Even if I didn't believe that any of it was real, it has that great urban legend creepy past a message forum quality of like uh, do you believe in this stuff?
And the arc, I think, that's fascinating is not just that idea of characters of films that are increasingly explicit in that sense of the word about, you know, gender and and and and transition, but also about media, where in World's Fair, it's, you know, like a girl uh uh v vlogging, you know, in YouTube.
And then TV Glow is about a 90s TV show, then sort of, you know, these kids who are obsessed.
