rugby league is growing massively across New Zealand and I think it would be a huge opportunity for the game to take a second team to New Zealand so hopefully that happens as part of the next expansion plans.
Yeah, it feels like that's the obvious place considering how the sport's really thriving there at the moment.
I want to ask you about the Melbourne Storm.
So obviously you're the CEO, but the Sunday night fixture is an interesting one.
Obviously AFL have been late to the party with Thursday night football compared to Rugby League.
Peter Valandi said that no Monday night football is returning as part of the new broadcast deal.
Why?
What's your thoughts on a Sunday night game?
How much of that is a challenge considering that it's the end of the school holidays?
Is that something it's been forced upon you or something that you're trying to embrace?
We certainly didn't lobby for a 6.15 start on a Sunday night in the middle of winter the day before school goes back.
So we were genuinely frustrated about this fixture.
And also against, you know, with no disrespect to the Titans, but a lower-drawing opponent.
So it makes it a challenge for us.
But, you know, so far the forecast looks OK.
The crowd should be OK as well.
So, you know, we're hoping that we get a decent crowd along on Sunday evening.
It's not an ideal time slot for us, clearly, from a attendance point of view.
There will be more Sunday nights in the future, but, you know, that's one of the advantages of having the WA...
teams a team involved in the in the schedule now that uh you know with the time difference from the west to the east it's certainly going to help from a fixturing point of view um with the perth bears to take a lot of those time slots so yeah not an ideal sunday night game but yeah hopefully people can come along and um you know support the storm this is our
