They may not be asking the question, would the BBC ever air something like this?

There's a thing that psychologists call motivated reasoning.

And that's if you want to believe that something could have happened, you are inclined to accept it.

And that Nigel Farage with a gun on question time, that might provoke maybe outrage, might provoke sort of fear, might provoke schadenfreude.

And it only takes a couple of seconds for you to make a snap decision on whether you like that or not.

And the platforms are built on snap judgment.

So they're not designed so that you will study something and look for the provenance of it.

They're designed for you to look at it for one to two seconds, not five seconds, to like it, to share it, to essentially give it life.

AI, of course, has...

structured the cost of this to almost zero.

So anyone can type into a consumer level AI production platform, you know, Nigel Farage waving a pistol on question time, and you will get something

like, pretty decent back from that.

I don't like going into, you know, different generations, but older users of platforms are sometimes more vulnerable to this because they have been for decades used to this idea that photo is evidence.

Now, they know about AI.

They know that it's not the same era as it was a decade or two decades ago.

But that basic rule, photo is evidence.

It's a very, very hard one to dislodge.
