One law means that for very large platforms, like Meta, TikTok, YouTube, for X, there are kind of broad obligations now.

So they have a new duty to perform a risk assessment.

And this is a risk assessment that the Commission comes down hard on for things like disinformation, for things like manipulation of civic discourse, public security threats.

And the test for that is,

which is a reasonable proportion and effective mitigation.

The test for that means that the platforms now have to have AI detection systems, maybe watermarking detection for AI content, but it will be easier for

the likes of the Commission or Commissioner Mann here to take cases against them and come down hard on them for that.

But that is still the level that it's going to have to happen.

If you or I want to take a case against one of the big platforms, we will either have to go through the likes of Commissioner Mann or one of the other regulators, or we will have to take our chances like Graham Norton has done.

Yeah, I think that's almost a rhetorical question.

The one that suggests something out of the ordinary or scandalous will get more virality.

And that's a huge problem.

And

The social networks will try to argue that's human nature, that we want to, that we're human.

It's an emotional response.

We like outrage, they wouldn't put it like that, but that's essentially what they're talking about.

And look, if we're being completely honest, we're in the media sector and we're not completely averse to that sensibility as well.

Truthful and accurate, but we are also aware of what stories and what type of content will get people's interest, and we will often give that prominence.
