The vice president of the US has several times lectured Europe about how we are dopes and dummies and we're anti-innovative and we don't have a clue we should get with the program.

Then you have the biggest American company coming to the European Commission, which are the very bureaucrats that American politicians are taking aim at and saying, by the way, could we do this?

I know it's a little bit unconventional and I know you have rules around it, but maybe we can work with you on it.

And the European Commission just says no.

Now, obviously, what I'm trying to suggest here is that there is a geopolitical element that the mood music somehow in the background affects all of this.

You would like to think that the European Commission is independent, and they would say that.

And I've asked officials from regulators, does politics ever play anything in your decision?

They always say, no, no, no, it doesn't.

Nevertheless, it is something that we wonder about.

field here but haven't they become de facto players in all of this because they're so big they're so powerful and and also they are used so much by uh political administrations as levers and tools and in you know discussions on tariffs and therefore it's really difficult for a company like apple or meta or google or or any of the others to to be completely removed by the way

particularly when they're turning up to the, you know, the launch of, you know, movies with the president's wife or handing the president gifts.

That sort of stuff, you would hope that it doesn't play into it.

But

Absolutely.

Just one or two final points about the technology itself.

We haven't gone that much into it.

One thing that does strike me, and I wonder does anybody else feel this, about the branding of Apple Intelligence areas.

We have Apple Intelligence, which by the way, was also highlighted as a separate or adjacent feature set to Siri AI.
