You're going to reward yourself.
And so in some sense, the rational structure of what you're doing is you're motivated by this thought of eating a candy bar.
You're like, if I listen to this, I get to eat the candy bar.
But it isn't just that.
It isn't as though someone else has offered you a candy bar to eat it.
You've offered it to yourself.
And that reflects your own understanding that there's more here than what you are currently able to sort of motivationally hook on to.
It's a bit embarrassing.
Like, it would be embarrassing if you had to admit to people you were listening to it for the sake of a candy bar.
Someone who didn't appreciate that there was anything more to classical music than that wouldn't be embarrassed because they would just think, oh, I've gotten it for the right reason.
So that's just an example to illustrate them.
I think that's a really interesting example, because I think in a way you could just say proleptic reasons are like that, but you're doing the whole thing for yourself.
I mean, so because I do think that in that case, it's sort of crucial that you have two people in the story.
Right.
And the adult does have a sense of both.
Right.
A sense of both what the child needs to hear now and what they might need to hear in the future.
And essentially the process of aspiration is sort of reflects a capacity that we have.
And I think that we start to have that capacity, like in a full sense, maybe when we're around like teenage age to sort of do that for ourselves, to pull ourselves forward to certain kinds of goals that we don't fully grasp at the outset.
I see.
