and there was this kind of protection sort of uh because of the feud between the two coasts, the bad boy records in New York and Death Row records in California, the the they would need say a New York artists who came to California would need protection and that would come from gangs in uh Compton or or somewhere and v and in a lot of cases vice versa, you know.

But a few hours after the f these fights happened, Tupac was in the passenger seat of a BMW being driven by Shug Knight.
They stopped at a red light on the Las Vegas strip.
A white Cadillac pulls up beside them and opens fire.
Somebody inside that Cadillac opens fire.
Tupac was hit four times.
He was taken to hospital.
