I was excited.

I didn't know what to expect.

So I was super excited.

Yeah.

And I was just ready to learn.

And then... I think something I would want to share too, because I can be a skeptic, and if many of you know my background, you know that I'm probably not the most... I have not always been the most open person all the time.

So one of the things that Brene did in this training, which is very unique, I think many of you might be able to relate to, is that in the training, I think the composition is... When you go into a room, if you're like the...

If there are not a lot of women there, you probably automatically notice how many women are there, right?

And you know where they are, what exit, where to go.

If you're any kind of the only anything, you recognize the other people who are like you, right?

Right off.

So one of the things, so it was probably like, what, four or five brown people in this room of, I don't know how many people, 250 or 150 or something.

And what was magical that I had not really seen somebody do before, a white person do before, was that...

Brene talked about within the first, this was about her work, her Dare to Lead work, and was throwing out the names like Bell Hooks, Audre Lorde, when they were saying these, as if everybody in the room should know these people.

And automatically she did something which like flipped the room almost, where if you were one of the only or others, you felt like this was your room.

And I don't know if you know the power in being able to do that where people who are not usually seen all of a sudden in a room of that many people feel like I belong here.

And so when we did meet like during a break, I said, was there like some pre-reading or something I missed?

Because I don't know if everybody here knows who Bell Hooks and Audre Lorde is.

And you're kind of surprised or what have you.
