In some ways, yes, and in some ways, no.
I think, like, Melot Kuros in Colorado was more of, like, a likely, you know, that she would upset Diana to get just based on things I was hearing from people on the ground and some polling in the race, but...
In New York, Daria Liza Avila-Chevalier's upset of Adriano Espaillat was not something that I had anticipated.
I thought it would be a close race, but I wasn't sure if she would pull it off just given his seniority.
And then, you know, the open seat where Claire Valdez beat Antonio Reynoso.
I live in that district, so I felt like, you know, she had a shot, but I did not see a 20-point blowout coming immediately after the polls closed.
I think also this anti-incumbent sentiment that we're seeing in so many places that I've heard anecdotally from voters and from other people that that's really driving a lot of the engagement and the turnout that is bigger than we've seen in recent cycles.
I spoke to State Senator Jabari Brewer's part about this for this DSA story that we did, and he described this as moving the goalposts and sort of trying to discount the wins.
He said, quote, it's an attack line that will keep coming up again, as you said, Brittany, a very reductionist identity politics from pundits and critics who don't have anything meaningful to offer working class voters.
And he also made the point, Jabari Brisport is a black state lawmaker, that many of these candidates are not the white gentrifying class that many of their critics, you know, claim are boosting them.
I also, you know, in my own sort of musings about this, I think it's interesting that like the conversation keeps sort of swinging back and forth between, oh, well, DSAI's membership is white.
And then, oh, well, all these voters are white.
