He would try to take control of the Anor stone, and that required Denethor to then not just exercise his skill to use the stone, but to use his strength to
to maintain control.
So now he's having to do multiple things.
But there is an advantage here.
Sauron is a busy guy, and he's also really crappy at delegating.
So he doesn't have to do this very often.
Not to mention the fact that his HR department is all about eternal torment and flaying your soul.
Right, yeah, yeah.
But he's got a really good retirement program, if you can survive to retire.
If you can survive it, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know, I mean, he is a busy guy, right?
I mean, he has Mordor's 500th anniversary to plan, his wedding to arrange, his wife to murder, and Gondor to frame for it.
He's swamped.
I'm swamped.
He would have been a good Sauron.
