I was exchanging a couple of voice notes with a long distance friend the other day.
We hadn't spoken in a few months and they were, you know, catching me up, telling me how, you know, life had just been lifing.
Constant waves, really good stuff happening, really horrific stuff happening.
There's life, there's death, there's everything all at once, is what they said.
The reference to waves actually brought me back instantly to my sailing experiences of last year and the type of mindset that you have to adopt when treading on one of nature's most powerful forces.
Anyways, they kept going on what they would later label as a ramble while I was sat there excited, knowing I was about to get another standout insight into the way they see the world.
And they said
I think my thirties have been spent realizing and really absorbing the fact that that is what life is.
There's not a period that you reach where life is only all chill and good and gray and nothing's happening.
Life is constantly ebbing and flowing, and the moment that you just get used to that, the at least somewhat easier this place begins to be able to be comprehended.
In the trailer for season 10, I described the year 2020 as the one during which Forest FM solidified its identity and intent, shaped by the voices of people showing up day in and day out, boldly and authentically for their teams, clients, and communities amidst the hardships and uncertainty at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

That you were one of those people and that you made it through those times not because you had a crystal ball giving you insights into the future.

You made it through because you made do with the situation at hand one small decision or action at a time over and over again.
