If that wasn't the case, then all the battles over segregation in the 60s, redlining, those concepts wouldn't be something that we'd all be familiar with, nor would the actual fact that there is a housing element requirement called Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing.
And so I do care about those 40, 65, 100 units in the south of El Camino.
I know that the dark skies element has very strong champions around that and I'm not here to like
say that I know what the prioritization level is for that or for historic preservation or objective design.
I think they're all important, to be quite honest with everyone, I guess.
And so for me, when I read the Housing Element 2.6 program as well, with very clear timelines, and I think with another indicator, another kind of like, I don't know what you would call it, like clause, text, commitment there, that says that if 40 units or something like that aren't developed by,
2024 or 2027, that then we're just gonna go back and get more feedback and that then we'll have incentivization framework or zoning, whatever that mechanism would be in place by December 31st, 2028.
I guess to be quite honest, not in a cynical way, but more in a just purely logistical way, I don't really have faith that that will actually happen if the first part of that commitment is three years delayed.
By the time we get boots on the ground or clipboards in front of doors and are knocking, have all the feedback, that can be three to six months.
And then we're gonna cram that through a city council
like to be delivered by 2028.
I just, I don't personally see that happening.
That doesn't mean it can't, that doesn't mean it wouldn't, but I personally don't see that happening.
And so the only controllable moment I have to say something about that is right now.
And yeah, I actually, I don't know what the best practice is for
quantifying the prioritization level of municipal governing body such that staff has clarity on why, like deep clarity, right?
Like the line of sight and can clearly articulate and understand in measured way
which items are priorities and the specific factors for why that's the case.
I don't know what those models look like.
I don't know if it's a thing that exists in your line of work.
