Hello everybody.

Whereas Alzheimer's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that profoundly impacts individuals, families, and communities by eroding memory and leading to increasing mental and physical impairments.

And whereas more than 7.2 million Americans, including an estimated 580,000 Floridians and 47,800 residents of Broward County,

are living with Alzheimer's disease, with approximately five hundred thousand Americans under age sixty five affected by younger onset Alzheimer's.

And whereas Alzheimer's is the seventh leading cause of death in the United States and is o is the only disease among the nation's top ten causes of death that cannot currently be prevented, cured, or slowed.

And whereas the economic impact of Alzheimer's disease is staggering, with direct care costs in the United States projected to reach 384 billion this year, making it one of the most expensive diseases.

For families and society.

And whereas caregivers play a critical role, with over eight hundred seventy thousand Floridians providing more than one point four billion hours of unpaid care each year.

The estimated value of unpaid caregiving by family and friends is four hundred thirteen billion, reflecting the immense sacrifice required to support loved ones with Alzheimer's.

And whereas the human cost of Alzheimer's is immeasurable, and it is vital to recognize the courage of those living with the disease, the dedication of their families and caregivers, and the commitment of those working toward a cure.

Now therefore, be it proclaimed by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners that the board hereby designates june twenty twenty five as Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month in Broward County, Florida.
