And I think we're in for a fantastic campaign kicking off on Saturday in the Commonwealth Games with the Ferns.
But there are big challenges in the domestic competition and in Netball New Zealand's overall financial performance, which we need to grapple with.
Well, I think you're talking there about the projected loss of the domestic competition, which has just finished and which we've just finished the calculations of.
It's going to be hard to cover.
We do have reserves sufficient to deal with it this year.
And the board last year, when committing to the third year of this premiership, knew that it had reserves that would cover the loss.
Next year for, well, I want to add, I don't want to add, but I think it's important to know that also this year, netball New Zealand in total is likely to run up a loss greater than 3.7.
It's going to be close to 6 million.
Again, reserves will cover this year.
I don't think next year is going to be easier to cover at that level from our reserves position.
So we need to start redesigning our business and redesigning the way that this competition is played.
The competition is the greater contributor to the financial performance of Netball New Zealand, but I think our business also needs to adapt.
And we are facing issues that are very similar to many other New Zealand domestic sports and many other international sports as well.
And one of the things we'll be dealing with up in the games here is discussing with the international netball community and other sporting codes exactly what they are facing in a world where there is great audience demand, quite fragmented sponsorship interest,
in a radically different media landscape than even existed five years ago, and you and I are very familiar with that ourselves.
