So we have three.
So we have the best player, the best emerging player, which is someone in their first two years.
And then now we have the best defensive player.
All right.
That'll be popular with the defensive union.
That's right.
Very nice.
Card carrying member.
No, no.
I was very sort of clear to declare my non-bias and all that.
But I do think it is an element of the game that gets talked about a lot.
And so if some of these other names are recognised outside sort of the all-Australian back six, then that's a good thing.
Right.
defence and the defensive aspect of the game such an important part how do we recognise that?
So we ran a pilot last year where the coaches voted on who they thought was the best defensive player of the ward and that's quite a broad category so we just basically say who do you think has had the best impact from a defensive point of view and it might mean effective tackles, spoils, stopping a quality opposition player, intercept marks, defensive running patterns, whatever it is.
And so we ran the pilot and this year we've run it formally with the idea that at the All Australian Awards and our awards, we announce it.
So, you know, some of the names that are sort of in the mix are not necessarily going to get lots of Brownlow votes, but, you know, it's good recognition.
So, yeah.
You know, some of the names are, you know, Tom McCartan, you know, this is just sort of who's got, you know, good solid votes this year so far.
You know, Daniel Turner, Callum Wilkie, Ryan Lester, Harris Andrews, Mullen from Geelong, O'Sullivan from Geelong.
