Airlines have been warning that they're going to have to raise their fares.

Travel costs in general.

Shipping costs have gone up.

All of that affects the end product and the products that consumers go out and purchase every day.

Mark Zandi from Moody's, he crunched the numbers and said that the average American family

is now paying $1,200 more due to the war with Iran, and that's due to gas prices.

It's due to grocery prices.

He said an extra $360 on gas, $240 on groceries, $205 for higher interest costs, so things like mortgage rates, the loan you pay on your car, interest on your credit card, things like that, and then $110 in overall transportation.

So,

That is so much money.

It's so much money, and it's really hard to avoid.

You have to buy groceries.

You have to fill up your car.

You have to do transportation.

You have to pay your mortgage.

Exactly.

So the one thing is that consumers are still spending.

Retail sales, some of the hard data that we've been getting from the government, that's been pretty steady, but they are being more selective.

So you even think of places like fast food chains, for example.

I've been doing some reporting there, and even though they're dealing with high beef costs, they're dealing with high production costs, they are still rolling out value meals, promotions, discounts, because they know that the consumer is
