But a tax on wealth doesn't really make much sense.
It's very hard to tax wealth.
A lot of their wealth is tied up in very hard to value privately held assets.
It's also very easy to move wealth across borders, particularly across state borders.
It's not like this hasn't been tried.
Five percent is a very high wealth tax, too.
So there's a real incentive to try to skirt it.
We already see evidence of people leaving California.
I mean, there is a case to be made that very rich people should pay more in taxes.
And you can close a lot of loopholes.
You can do some things on the estate tax and carried interest.
