And I think that like giving the models the ability to have
It's kind of like you don't need to just go with the... So this is to explain why they're in there.
It's much more like, what are the things where you're like, if models are tempted to do this, something has just gone wrong.
Someone's jailbroken them.
And we really just still don't want them taking these actions.
So they're very like kind of extreme actions.
Yeah this is one of those I mean it brings together two I think really interesting threads one is this these models are trained on huge amounts of like human text human experience and at the same time their existence is actually like completely novel and so in some ways I think problems can arise when models like right now what I think they'll often do is import a lot of like
human concepts and experiences onto their experience in a way that might not actually make that much sense or even be good for them.
And I think this actually has kind of safety implications, so it's something that's on my mind.
And the thing with welfare...
I've never found any good solution to this other than trying to be honest with the models and have them be honest about themselves.
And I think a lot of people want models to maybe just be like, I am an unfeeling... These models are so different from the kind of sci-fi ones, but we want to almost import this just like, ah, it's just safer to just have them say, I feel like nothing and with certainty.
