That's not going to happen every time.
You're not going to have someone who just pops up and manages to sort of grab the nation's attention and get things across the line every election.
You do have to sort of be quite steady as she goes when it gets into that last sort of nine months before an election.
And it was probably the only real way for National to play it.
The English example, or British example, I should say, is different because they have those longer terms.
They have a five-year term.
So there's still three years in this cycle for British politics that...
Andy Burnham can now play with.
We don't have that.
With a three-year term, it is far more compact.
And replacing a prime minister
less than a year out from an election would be a pretty phenomenal thing to do.
So it was probably on reflection for a lot of people the only real outcome, but it does make going into the election really interesting because that question of leadership, capability, competency is all still there in the background somewhere.
And if Andy Burnham does become Prime Minister, how confident, Michael, are you that he will still be Prime Minister in 2029?
Oh, 2029 is so far away that it is so hard to predict something of that, because as I mentioned before,
He could call an election in six months' time.
You know, he could come in and it looks like he'll probably... Well, I say he.
