And Trump did the right thing in his first term by abrogating the JCPOA, by pulling out of the agreement.
It was a fatally flawed agreement in many respects.
And Iran continued to advance its enrichment program, both in terms of the number of centrifuges that were running, as well as the design of those centrifuges.
They went from one generation to the next generation, meaning that they could process more enriched uranium at higher levels faster and faster.
They were on the track to be able to do whatever they wanted to in enrichment.
Under the JCPOA.
And remember, the JCPOA resulted in us paying the Iranians hundreds of millions of dollars that were just flowing in, as well as billions of dollars in resources that accrued to them through the release of relief of sanctions and other things.
And what did they do with that money?
Well, they built their ballistic missile force.
They supplied their terrorist proxies in Lebanon, in Gaza, in Yemen, and conducted terrorist activities around the world.
And they, of course, invested a great deal in repressing their own people.
I mean, that's what we paid for.
That's what appeasement produced.
And I think, again, Trump did the right thing then.
