But how do I forget about the whole thing?
And then I will say this person went on to summarize their experience and everything that happened to them.
They did not want that part shared at all.
And Kat read it.
It was like, I put some stuff in our Google Docs that we have about this, about forgiveness.
And, you know, that would be more so for yourself, not for them.
And then Kat typed, I don't know if I can forgive anybody for anything if they did that.
And I thought, okay, well, this is good that we've got some different perspectives on forgiveness, but I do see your point.
So why don't you go ahead and talk about what your thoughts were after that?
And anybody else can relate, obviously not to the exact situation since we're not sharing that, but
maybe in their heart, having to wrestle with having to, or feeling the desire or what to do with all these feelings when you want to forgive, but you also want to forget, but you can't seem to do either.
What do you do?
Well, the forgiveness can still come.
It just may not come immediately at that time.
And maybe it doesn't ever come, but I think just leaving that door open is good, but not this feeling of like, oh, I need to forgive right away because I've been forgiven or because you may need more time to process.
I want to forgive you and my goal is to get there, but I might take some time and forgiveness for me doesn't equal reconciliation.
Yeah.
So when you say someone is choosing not to forgive, are they then, I don't, and I don't know if it's some of it's just how I grew up and it is part of my faith, but I have a hard time wrapping my head around like if you can have that compassion and you can get there and see where they're coming from and still acknowledge your feelings, then just short of saying the words like, okay, I think I could, I'm forgiving this person.
Or is it just because someone really may not want to get to that point or are they still harboring like really negative feelings and thoughts of like, oh, I hate this person and what they did to me?
And it's also not consuming you and ruminating in your mind.
