That's a lot of secular music.
We didn't have a choir in our church.
I didn't grow up on gospel music.
You still got into Christian music though first, right?
I did because when I was a sophomore in high school, my two oldest sisters had come back living in the Boston area in the early 70s.
One went to a school called Pine Manor and one went to Wellesley.
And they both transferred back to Vanderbilt.
But kind of that area of Cambridge was really kind of swept with the Jesus hippie movement.
I'm sure Equal Parts, Jesus Music, Equal Parts Pot, you know, it was just kind of Cambridge in the early 70s.
And when they came back to Nashville, they found a church on Music Row that didn't have a lot of typical church culture, like everybody showed in blue jeans.
They had a coffee shop, record store next door that had free concerts every Saturday night and everything.
you know, kind of an artisan area with woodworking and stained glass.
I mean, it was beautiful.
It was the corner of 16th and Grand before everything was renamed.
And I loved being a part of that culture.
And so it was my sophomore year at Harpeth Hall, and I was sitting in a mandatory chapel program.
I mean, it's not a Christian school, but...
Just culturally and Southern, you know, there would be a minister or a rabbi that was invited to come speak once a week for 30 minutes.
And so...
