Most parents don't know what I'm about to talk to you about.
Like, this is a area of confusion and darkness and shame and embarrassment.
And most parents, most of us, had really crappy examples when we were growing up.
How where do I start?
I have been involved in sex education since I was uh 20-ish, 21, 22, and I volunteered for a telephone hotline and I was providing abortion and birth control and adoption and pregnancy counseling over the phone to women who were dealing with unplanned pregnancy.
And
I loved it.
And that led me to running the hotline and just doing general sexual health education and counseling for over 16 years.
And it was it was my hobby.
And I uh was in my element working with people around this really uncomfortable topic.
And I would even like rearrange my work schedule to accommodate my volunteer schedule.
So this was definitely a big part of my world.
And
I had assumed that when I became a parent, I was just gonna be a total rock star sex talker.
I love talking about sexuality.
I'd talk to pretty much anybody you can think of about their sex life in one way or the other.
And I also along the way got a master's degree in adult education.
And so
I ended up getting pregnant the year I got my degree and my pregnancy was planned because yeah, that was not gonna happen to me.
