I worked with a client right when I first became a professional organizer and she'd just been through a divorce.

So she hadn't just been, she had been through a divorce.

And she had put everything in one room of the house, everything that reminded her of her ex-partner, his clothes, his paperwork, his books, his hobbies, his golf clubs, everything.

She hadn't touched it for five years.

And so she had me in and it was this real process of her going, I'm ready, ready to reclaim that space.

And also he didn't want any of it.

So she no longer felt this obligation of like, I really should be keeping it all.

And it was so freeing for her.

So much of it got to go to donation.

We got a big skip as well.

And for her, it was this freeing thing.

And then she had a room that she could do what she wanted with.

But it took five years.

She wasn't ready before that.

Everything had just gone into one room.

But then when she was ready, that decluttering was that final step.

And once she'd done it, like she just kept saying how free she felt and how she felt able to move on to that next season of her life.

So I hope that that bit of wisdom and client experience and giving yourself grace and thinking about items and how you want to move into this next season is helpful.
