Because it it used to be
Chicken.
There was a whole media cycle around chlorinated chicken.
Uh, you know, years ago when the UK was pushing for a trade deal there.
Are w are we still talking about that or has it moved on?
What is the UK asking for from you?
So I went to interview James Segreer at his office to learn some more about how Washington is thinking about Donald Trump's trade war.
And obviously I had to ask him about the UK.
Something interesting that came up when we talked about that was that he feels the UK is choosing Brussels over Washington.
Essentially saying whatever you guys whatever Brussels decides on rules and regulations, the UK is going to make effort to follow that.
And really that's designed to help the UK keep trading with the EU.
But from Jameson Greer's point of view
He told me that that was challenging for him when he was trying to develop the trade deal with the UK.
Yeah, of course.
And I asked him about that.
So they're not using their Brexit freedom.
I think really this is a reminder that Britain does actually do quite a bit more trade with the European Union than it does with America.
And although the UK has always said it wants a trade deal with America, at the end of the day, it has more benefit from being economically aligned with the European Union.
And some of the rules that are made in Brussels just do not jive with the way Washington does things.
