I wrote that story at Clarion West.
I was at Clarion West in 2017, the summer of 2017.
It was a story that I wrote first in English for Clarion.
And it was one of the middle stories, like week four or something.
And then I came back home and I...
Translated it to Spanish and worked on it in Spanish.
And then I reworked the English and went back and forth.
And then I worked with Emma Church, was in Clearium with me.
And she is the one that ended up translating the real version in English.
What I remember is I was at one of the Clearium West parties talking to a friend and telling him how I have always been...
maybe haunted is a good word, by this idea of the lake that used to be in Mexico City and how it was supposed to look.
And I really wanted to write... I usually try to put that image of the lake coming back somewhere in every book I write.
But then he was like, I think you should try and write it for Clarion and see how it works.
