I'm very big on outlining.
And because I was writing in English, I usually... That was the first and only time in my life I've written directly into English during Clarion because Spanish is my first language.
But then I would outline way more because I had so little time.
And I knew...
For me, I knew two things about the story.
One, that there was this lake that came back and I thought it was a beautiful image in that describing the city and the cityscape would be needed to be very evocative.
But then I also wanted to write a story that would, the structure is that would be in the point of view of one of the girls and then in the keys, it would switch points of view.
Like it would be in omniscient and then it would switch points of view and exit in the other point of view.
So I knew that I had like...
So it's a very mirror-like story.
So I had that structure.
So the idea that it was a story about two girls having a date was always ingrained into the story.
And it was more how to make that weird S-shape work.
And also how to... Because it's a very... I think it's one of my most...
well-known stories, either in English or in Spanish.
And it always surprised me because I always tell it was such a quiet story where nothing really happens.
Two girls have a date.
But it has surprised me in a very good way that a story that seems so quiet on some of the small things has had
like such, yeah, like people have recognized it as much.
It has helped me a lot in what kind of fiction I want to do and knowing that kind of like more quiet fiction works somehow also in science fiction.
