Nothing prepares you for when they go.
No, no.
ah no it doesn't and I think what was that like after he passed for you ugh
I always remember saying because I had been in the room with my grandmother when she had died when she actually took her last breaths and I always remember like being kind of half traumatised by that.
Yeah.
Because I was in college at the time so I do remember it like I was maybe 22 at the time and I always remember saying I don't want to be in the room when this happens to that.
I don't want to be the one like I want to be in the house but I just don't want to be there when it happens you know.
And we were
talking we were we were in the room and there was like some family there and some of dad's very close friends we were all in the house the family were at home at the time and I remember I was just sitting in the bed beside him and I like was straightening my hair or telling some I remember we were talking about something that was on in the news
And I remember he passed away and... Or, like, you know, that kind of started, like... And I was kind of even half traumatised even thinking about it, but... Yeah.
My mum and sister and all were there and it was just... It's just horrendous.
Like, yeah, I...
I was the one, I suppose, I knew I didn't want to be in the room.
Like, I wanted to kind of... I just... You know, because you still hear it and, like, I just... Yeah, I just... I knew I didn't want to be there for that bit, but he passed away.
And, like, God or, like, family and friends were absolutely...
amazing like they were amazing like you know I know people talk about oh we do the Irish do a funeral really well we do though you know and like I think because 100% nothing like them the farming community and like they were all just brilliant like his colleagues they were they were great like I mean they just everybody I don't even know like you just
kick into gear and next thing like dad's friends or there's like there's furniture been moved and it's been stored somewhere and things have been like you know in a way it is yeah it is yeah it is mad like how it all just kicks into gear and then my mum my mum's father was a funeral undertaker
so years ago like he had passed away I had never even met him but but mum would have really known that world so like you know she had known like dad would have always over the years been very open about talking about like death is something we would have talked about in our house and maybe it was because like as a child I remember you know being in my granny's house or being in the pub and like there would have always been like at the back of the kind of the lounge of the pub from
from our family or whatever from the family being in the funeral undertaking business there would often have kind of been like when the pub wasn't open coffins there or baskets or different things and floral arrangements you know or wreaths and stuff as well and I remember as a child kind of been down around playing that so I think playing with that like so I think maybe I wasn't
frightened or scared of that because I was like that was kind of something I'd seen an awful lot of you've been exposed to it yeah like I remember over the years at one point even being in when my uncle continued on with the business like being in a hearse with him on a couple of occasions when he'd be maybe collecting a coffin or collecting somebody from a morgue and like I would have been in the hearse as well at some point so so again I probably wasn't none of that was that all seemed actually no that all seemed kind of normal in a weird way being around that yeah um
