I feel like the scary thing is that we're all so worried about misinformation that scientists can't make jokes.

Not that this was the best joke of all time, but, you know, the idea of a prank is sort of... It feels irresponsible, and it's too bad that that's the case, because making science fun and engaging, and you could imagine he could do a fun quiz show, like...

Like, Fallon could do a segment, but it feels like it would cause more harm than good, which is... Right, unless you're transparent upfront.

And I'm thinking about something that I think Jay brought up on a different live a while ago about the movement towards pre-registering your hypotheses.
That's another way of just putting the system in place because it turns out we can't rely on everyone to do great science, even though we all like to think that we're doing it.
Where I thought you were going, Steve, with that was we can't rely exclusively... Well, we still rely on it a lot, but peer review, right?
Peer review is not a perfect process.
