Uh and yet.

We we hold on to this indefensible policy, bad for consumers, bad for dairy farmers, and on top of it all, a huge trade irritant not just with the Americans but with everybody.

uh everybody's fed up with Canada on this issue.

And it to to for to imagine that we'll hold hostage not just this trade negotiation, but all kinds of trade negotiations, keep getting stuck on this point.

Uh i I it's just bewildering.

And and yet it enjoys the support of every party, and as far as I can tell, every member of every party, uh except God bless us, Maxime Bernier, who's got a lot to answer for, but on this one I agree with him.

Uh um but but but uh but nobody in the sort of mainstream of Canadian politics dares get out of line on this.

Uh and in fact of course Andrew Schear was elected

leader of the Conservative Party largely on the strength of his his uh attacks or his support of supply management and all kinds of Quebec dairy farmers signed up to become conservatives for the sole purpose of voting for 'em when they don't support the conservatives for a second.

So it just distorts our politics, distorts our trade policy.

you know, harms our trade relations.

And uh uh on this one I disagree with you, Roger.

I disagree with the public perhaps that uh even though Donald Trump is demanding it, uh I I think we can get rid of it.

What is the point of making concessions?

What is the point of signing a deal?

with this president, when every experience tells us nothing of it will be binding.

He will not live up to the terms on his side.

Uh he will not make any serious concessions to begin with.

Uh but he will graciously accept our concessions and then turn around and and and hit us again anyway.
