Perhaps or you may have seen the allusions to how information and knowledge can differ. voice-verified

And that is to say, information, I suppose, is the literal conduit of communication. voice-verified

And in that sense we can say that the book is information, the text is information. voice-verified

But not just in a sense that it is written word and once we interpret those written words they have information. voice-verified

It is information, I suppose, in a scientific way that then encroaches upon the field of information theory. voice-verified

And so we can say that the book is information in the same way that a table is information, in the same way that the planet Earth is information. voice-verified

And essentially anything that is matter with properties that are measurable becomes information. voice-verified

And so where is the knowledge then? voice-verified

If there is a difference, which I believe there is. voice-verified

And the knowledge comes from, like I say, these layers of interpretation. voice-verified

And we can understand how information transforms into knowledge when we, for example, pick up a book and see that the pages are old and weathered. voice-verified

and we can see the scratch marks on the book we can we can begin to glean from this information this literal physical matter using our layers of interpretation all those different kinds of context that we exist with interpreting the information and transforming it into knowledge perhaps we could say that this book is old voice-verified

that it has been read well that it has been in the past treated badly for example before we even begin to pass the literal meaning of the text therein and so knowledge in that sense does require a human interpretation voice-verified

knowledge also has this implication of utility when we talk about wisdom we think of someone with much knowledge but knowledge that is perhaps worldly and practical the literal measurable voice-verified

uh properties of a book are not wisdom they are not uh utilities on their own uh that requires a mind to interpret and to give utility to the information and i suppose when we talk about uh voice-verified

Information as being utilitous. voice-verified

Perhaps that is a definition of knowledge. voice-verified

Then what we are talking about is meaning. voice-verified

We are giving meaning to information. voice-verified
