We know that we've got to make it easier for businesses to do business, to grow and to scale.
So we've got to work on those long-term sources of supply that will enable us to continue to have the living standards that we've come to enjoy.
Our view clearly, and we talk to the government all the time, is that first and foremost, we want to see fiscal responsibility and a balanced budget.
That's very, very important because you don't want to see the public sector taking more and more share of gross domestic product.
It's much better for this country if it's the private sector growing, not the public sector.
So that's point one.
Point two, we would say, is that we would encourage policies that support the things that I've just talked about, which is long-term productivity growth and increasing the supply foundations of our country.
And so anything that makes it easier to build homes...
makes it easier to bring energy to market and makes it easier for business to grow, we would encourage.
It's hard for me at this stage to talk about specific policies without having seen the detail behind those policies and this stuff, the details matter.
So I'm not going to get drawn on specific policies until I've seen what exactly is in behind them.
Look, I think AI is going to be a very significant technological revolution, as significant as the computer, the motor car or electricity.
This is going to change how all of us live and work and it's certainly also going to change how we do business at National Australia Bank.
We think of AI in three broad categories or themes.
The first of all is AI for growth and improving our customers' experience and bankers' experience.
The second bucket of opportunity is around AI for productivity.
to automate repetitive work and low-value work.
And then the third area is to provide AI for all our colleagues so that they can do their work faster and better.
Just as we all use AI in our private lives to assimilate information and to get help in all sorts of areas, we can also do that in the workplace.
well i mean first and foremost we're we're building the platforms that are required for us to uh track what's happening and the decisions that ai is making because you know as the boss of the bank i need to be able to to say that i know what we're doing and why we're making the decisions that we're making uh so the ability to have assurance around all the different models that we have is incredibly important in a in a regulated industry like ours
