But we believe that done right, we can actually get more assurance and more understanding of our business processes than we do today.

Manual work and people make mistakes, as you can well imagine.

And so, you know, we're very encouraged by the potential for AI to not just drive better customer experience and not just drive more productivity opportunities, but also to improve our risk profile and how we're

managing our relative obligations to our customers.

Gosh, I use AI all the time to help me understand information, to decipher the complicated, to decide where to go out for dinner, all sorts of things.

It's wonderful and it's made me much faster in a load of activities that I would do every single day.

Well, that was somewhat informing our policy change that we announced a couple of weeks ago.

And as we looked at it, I think we did start to question some of the software assets that we had on our balance sheet for the reasons that you mentioned.

And

with AI, the ability to replicate software at a speed and at a cost that would have been unfathomable not only a few years ago, has I think made us take a different view on what we would want to capitalise as an asset and what we would want to just expense to our P&L.

And I think that's the change that we made a couple of weeks ago.

Look, our job is to run the bank and be a better bank for our customers and for our colleagues.

And I think we try and take a long-term view in terms of creating value for our shareholders.

Markets can move and be very volatile and we don't try and get too concerned with day-to-day movements.
