It's just hurting everyone, including the taxpayer.
I was put onto this chemotherapy initially and I was told nine rounds over two years.
So I got through the first two rounds and we got the cancer into remission, which meant that it was significantly suppressed.
I didn't have any effects of the cancer anymore.
And at the end of those two rounds, we thought we were going to start the third round, but we were waiting for me to recover from the treatment, and I just wouldn't recover.
My blood wouldn't produce platelets, so I couldn't clot, and so we were giving the cancer a chance to recur.
So at that point, a decision was made to put me through a stem cell transplant, which was my only remaining option to seek a cure for the disease that I had.
That's correct.
It would have taken two years.
And like I say, there would have been nine rounds and it was very unpleasant.
I know that from the first two rounds.
But yeah, that would have been a path that I could have got through and got cured without having the trauma of the stem cell transplant.
So I got told just before Christmas that I needed the stem cell transplant.
And up till that point, everything that had happened, it had happened in a really timely manner.
But then they told me I needed to wait for this transplant.
I needed to wait initially seven months and I was just completely surprised by this.
They told me I had to wait because there was a wait list and that best practice would be that I'd get worked straight up into my transplant, which would take normally about a month.
You need to find a donor and you have to do some tests.
Yeah, I was told seven months and that other people were also waiting and I needed to essentially get in queue behind them to wait for my slot.
A wait of something like a month or maybe two months.
