Tillinghast obviously is a very prolific championship golf designer in the Northeast.
One of the unique things about Aronamink, Aronamink was built after the vast majority of the famous Philadelphia clubs, and it was built by Donald Ross, an outsider to the town.
Obviously, Ross, born in Scotland, came across Philadelphia
and started working in Massachusetts when he got to America.
and obviously the most prolific architect of this era, having designed over 400 courses.
That being said, Aronamink, I would put into the top tier of golf courses designed by Donald Ross.
The likes of Oakland Hills South, Seminole, it is right up there.
Interlochen would be another one that I think is great.
Scioto, another great Donald Ross design.
Essex County, obviously, in Massachusetts.
But I would put
into that top echelon of Donald Ross, Donald Ross's work, Aronamink.
Um, as is the case with most golf courses in the Philadelphia area, it is terrific land.
That's kind of the core ingredient of golf in Philadelphia is a land.
Uh, it is just terrific.
It's really broad and brawny land, but it's very well scaled for golf.
And what I mean by that is that the rises and falls, there are a lot of valleys that these golf courses in Philadelphia play into and then come out of.
They're big valleys, but not too big.
