Absolutely.
Financial abuse is one of the most common forms of domestic and family violence, and it's actually one of the most effective ways to keep someone in an abusive relationship by
limiting things like their independence and their options.
Now, for those that don't know, it occurs when money or finances or assets like property are used to control or to exploit another person without their consent.
And I think the challenge is that it's often less visible than physical abuse, which means that people may not recognise it as abuse until harm is well and truly established.
And
It can often even escalate when a victim-survivor leaves a relationship.
Now, financial abuse can impact anyone, but some groups can actually be at greater risk.
