But, of course, you can reread it and remember how it might have felt.

But, yeah, you're out.

Well, it's not the same as being in it.

And I guess in a way I can see things about it that I couldn't while I was writing it.

So that's interesting.

So I guess it was in Trump's first time as president and there were book bans in certain states.

And, you know, I did start thinking about what it might feel like from the perspective of those books.

Suddenly they're sort of wiped, you know.

I started to think about the power of books, the power of words, stories, and also the impotence.

of stories.

So all that sort of was underlying my time of working on this book.

Well, the rules had to sort of evolve, but I think the main thing was that I was getting the voice right.

The book...

The book is not all powerful, you know, and that was necessary.

There needed to be limits.

And, you know, I had to ask myself, what does a book want more than anything?

And a book wants to be read.

You know, a story wants to be received.

Absolutely.

And, you know, that's what I find so exciting is that when I'm writing stories
