So this year, similar to last year, we've got a particular focus on work related expenses.

But the other one that's emerging more and more for us is a focus on working from home.

So again, as more people work from home, we're particularly making sure that you're not kind of over claiming what you can from a working from home perspective.

And the other area is this year around income.

mainly because I think people often forget how broad the term income is.

So it does mean you have to include any cash payments that you might have got for your work, side hustles, even income other than cash or money.

So if you're doing something and you're getting product as a payment, you need to ensure that that is included as income.

in your tax return.

So that can get a little bit tricky depending on your circumstances.

And we've got a bit of an eye on that one as well.

Yeah, so first and foremost, Sean, the ATO's primary aim is to try and support as best we can small businesses to get it right rather than focusing on the consequences of getting it wrong.

And there is a lot of information that we look to provide small businesses, whether that's through toolkits and resources online.

For things like Payday Super, which is obviously a big one right now and has just kicked in,

We are particularly focusing again on making sure that businesses who need the support to get everything up to date, and most of them should have done that by now, have that in place.

We're not going to be focusing on those businesses that are taking genuine steps to make sure that they are paying their super for their employees on payday.

If you then make a mistake after that and fix it as soon as you can.

that's not something we're going to focus on in this first year of payday super.

And so as much as possible, we take our role seriously in terms of just making sure the right advice and guidance is available and that everyone has what they need to pick something up, use it as a tool that can make sure that they limit those mistakes and know exactly what their obligations are.
