Likely it's still happening, but it's just suppressed because you can't express how something has impacted you because then you might be, you know, yeah, it kind of goes against maybe cultural norms, but the feeling's still there.
But then perhaps it's just not not able to be communicated even less and suppressed and therefore might even take a bigger toll potentially.
Yeah, it doesn't go away entirely.
It's just not doesn't find an outlet.
You know, we can spiral a lot.
That's such a good point because you're missing about half of the information that you would usually take in, right?
All the nonverbal cues that will give you a clue on whether this is something that you should be taking personally or not go missing.
So if I saw somebody receive my text and their kids are screaming at them at the same time and someone's at the front door and so they put the phone away.
I would know that there's all these contextual factors that make them not be able to respond right now.
But if I'm missing all of that, I might be there sitting, right, well, I know exactly what happened here and that's because, you know, she's actually mad at me and that's why she's not replying.
Yeah.
Same with,
Like comments, for instance, if you see my face and I'm sort of saying, Hey, I love your pants.
Um, you might be able to, you know, even if you're prone to taking things personally, it might really give you enough cues to, Oh no, she's, she's authentic there.
And I'll take it as a compliment.
Whereas if I comment on a picture of yours and you might be prone to taking things personally, expecting kind of criticism and passive aggressive comments.
And I just said, nice pants without any, you know, context.
You might put your lens onto that more and then perhaps be, yeah, taking it personally when it went because you're missing all of that other information.
And when our brains lack information, we fill in the gap.
And we fill in the gap in a negative way.
