So we were Americans up there, and I was loving it, just being up there, being romantic, just the two of us.

But the band followed me, so pretty soon all of them were up there too.

And so we formed a band.

And the only thing that was missing was a good, strong backup harmony.

So I kept inviting Nancy to come up to Vancouver.

Oh, wow.

And she did whenever she got a break from school.

And she started to come up more often and she would sit in with us.

Because we were playing all kinds of clubs in those days and high school dances and stuff like that.

But it was a stage.

It was a way for us to get up there and work on it.

And she finally came up enough that Mike Flicker, the producer, heard us with her on stage.

Yeah.

And wanted to give us a record contract with all of us.

Mushroom.

So she stayed.
