Well cardiac procedures there's a high variability and certainly we have a high rate of cardiac cathode.
And we also have a high rate uh high variability though within our country.
And that's what you see in a num number of other countries as well.
I think the real issue is, as you say normally, is appropriateness.
Nobody quite knows if you look at that data it's it's it's really to start the conversation.
What's the right amount of care?

So what we're really trying to focus on is trying to dig down, look at the evidence.
and see what's the right amount of care for a person with that sort of condition.
What's the evidence say about what they should have, what do they want, and are we giving them the resources to be able to make the decision to get the best care?
So the aim is not really to flatten out the variability, the aim is to actually decide how do we best get value for our healthcare dollar and make sure that our population gets the care they need and want.
If you just go for variation alone, you might actually come up with the wrong answer.
If you go for getting the right care, a side effect will be flattening out the variation.
But you will get what you really, really want and that's the best care for the population.
Yeah, it's a very important message because sometimes we think if you put more money into it you'll get better health care.
But the Dartmouth Atlas says actually no, not necessarily.
