So that was how it began.
Not, I mean, not for a moment would my brain have made the leap towards dementia because he was 41 or whatever.
And then... How unusual is this?
This is very early onset and it is pretty unusual, although there are more cases, sadly.
And then years go by and his world starts to crumble.
He loses the place where he lives.
He can't hold down a job.
And everyone's thinking, is he taking drugs?
Because nobody, again, would make that leap.
So anyway, I'm at the National... Eventually, I'm having to pay rent for him to live somewhere around the corner, actually, from me.
I'm at the National Theatre working on a play, and it was in between two shows, and I get a phone call from our GP.
And she says, I have your brother here.
He's just walked in, and he had a panic attack because he didn't know where he was.
And he just knew that that was the doctor's surgery, and so he went in and said, I need you to help me.
