So I mean to
Yeah, this is about the incentives not being properly aligned with the spirit of the program.
Most Americans support nutrition support.
They do.
In the richest society.
That the planet has ever known kids shouldn't be hungry.
That's what the point of that program is.
And due to bureaucratic cruelty and incompetence, we're ending up with a situation where entire states might not have food stamps anymore or where the roles are falling in half because of bureaucratic issues.
And I think it gets into this, right?
Some of the time tax is caused by incompetence, technological incompetence is a huge part of that.
Some of it is caused on purpose because we want to punish people or dissuade them from using something.
And then some of it I think just happens by accretion because we don't have the incentive to really fix these problems.
Even though this is an issue set, this is eminently fixable.
This is not something where we don't know how to make it better.
There's this thing that can go on with Republicans where I think that they want poor people to have to do this paperwork as a form of punishment and a form of work.
Because if you're not making enough in the labor force, you should have to do some work for benefits.
This is the theory.
And I think in some cases they don't want government to work that well.
Because they don't support it.
They want it to be smaller, at least many of them.
